A motorcycle group has changed the venue for its meetings.

Peterborough Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) used to meet at the Fox and Hounds pub in Longthorpe but from January 20 they will meet at the Elm Tree Tavern, in Garton End Road.

Tracy Tink Wyatt, from MAG, said: “The move to the Elm Tree Tavern provides us with the use of a separate function room for our meetings. In addition we will be hosting MAG rock nights later in the year and this allows us to hold all our events in one place.’

The MAG meeting at the new venue on January 20 will start at 7.30pm. The first MAG rock night will take place on Saturday, March 17 and all are welcome.

BIKERS held their first-ever festive run to deliver donations and treats to an animal shelter.

Members of Peterborough’s newly-formed Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) rode out from the Fox and Hounds pub, in Longthorpe, to Wood Green Animal Shelter last weekend.

They were laden with cuddly toys, chews, bones and other animal treats which had been donated by city businesses and the riders themselves.

When they arrived at the shelter in Godmanchester they were given hot drinks and biscuits as well as a tour around the 52-acre site to see how the gifts they took along would be put to use.

Dave Hammond, of Peterborough MAG, said: “It was a great day made possible by the generosity of local businesses and the MAG riders.

“This will be an annual event for MAG and it’s our intention to make this a bigger event next year.”

Good turnout for new biker group as Peterborough MAG revs into the Fox & Hounds

Motorcycle enthusiast’s Dave Hammond & Tracy (Tink) Wyatt have formed the Peterborough branch of the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG), which will meet every other Friday evening from 7.30pm, next meeting 25th Nov at the Fox & Hounds in Longthorpe, PE3 6NB.

MAG is a longstanding national organisation that strives to improve awareness of motorcyclists’ needs within local and national government, as well as giving bikers a chance to meet up with like-minded people.

Local groups also hold regular events to raise funds for local good causes. The first Christmas run will be held on the 27th November leaving the Fox & Hounds at 11.00pm taking pet toys/chews to Wood Green, The Animals Charity. All bikers welcome.

Dave Hammond said “The first meeting was a resounding success, with over 40 people attending, including National Campaigns Manager Paddy Tyson”.

Local businesses kindly donated raffle items which raised funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Andy Campion, County Rep for Cambridgeshire Riders Branch kindly received this with thanks.

Dave Hammond is new to the Peterborough area and says that after the success of the MAG Demo ride on the 25th Sept, highlighting EU threats to motorcycling, riders in Peterborough need a branch of MAG so help voice their concerns.

The social and fundraising side of MAG see many events nationwide, and as a local group we plan to bring events back to Peterborough. Everyone is welcome at the MAG meetings, so come along for a chat or join us on a ride out.
